I'm doing my reading for government class and they have a section in the book called Beyond Our Borders. This chapter is about The Courts, mainly the Supreme Courts and then it mentions stuff about the Courts below that. Anyways, for this Beyond Our Borders it's explaining The Legal System Based on Sharia which is an Islamic law that is used in a lot of countries.

It's first major source is, of course, the Qur'an and the second is called sunnah, which is based on the way the Prophet Muhammad lived his life. The book says...

All possible actions of Muslims are divided into five categories.

1. Obligatory
2. Meritorious
3. Permissible
4. Reprehensible
5. Forbidden

It actually basically controls the life of a Muslim living in the country that uses these laws. The book says...
Sharia law covers many aspects of daily life, including the following:

• Dietary rules
• Relations between married men and women
• The role of a woman
• Holidays
• Dress codes, particularly for women
• Speech with respect to the Prophet Muhammad
• Crimes, including adultery, murder, and theft
• Business dealings, including borrowing and lending of funds.

My question to you guys is...How do you think our world would be different if we had these laws in place?

Hope this wasn't too deep, I'm just curious and no offense to any other religion, I think it's fascinating in a really scary way because I can't imagine my world being controlled like that.

This past Saturday Della (the lady I care for during the day) passed away. It was sudden and shocking and I still can't believe it. I keep wanting to go across the street and hang out and talk to her. I had just left and I'm so glad that I said bye to her when I went across the street because the next time I was there, she was gone. She was such an amazing lady, so smart, she knew everything about anything. She has hundreds of books, all that she's read. Her personality was amazing. Ten minutes of talking to her and you felt like you knew her your whole life. She was honest too which I love in a person. She'd tell you if she didn't like the way you cooked her food, or if you did something she didn't like. She used to correct pronunciations in a heartbeat, she was so hilarious, she'd have me laughing my butt off all the time.

Because she had COPD/emphysema, she knew she was going to pass. She was at the end stages which usually lasts six months, she lasted two years. Also because of this she was able to get everything in order and plan her own funeral. I know this is going to sound bad but her funeral was great. She planned everything down to the flowers. She was cremated so they had pictures and flowers on a few tables and it was a really nice set up. Everyone died with laughter when they started playing Paul Simon and Rod Stewart "Tonight's The Night" It's totally Della I think it's what she would have wanted. As long as I didn't look at her picture I was fine, until the last song. I don't know what it was called but it was a gospel song and I think it was something about going on or dieing something by Johnny Cash, I forget, it had me tearing up a little though.

I went over there today to let the dogs out because her daughter Dori was in Indiana for the memorial service that she wanted them to have up in Stockwell, I think it's Stockwell. Anyways she'll be back tomorrow so I went over and let the dogs out and then came back in and put the dishes in the dishwasher and made her bed and it was really really weird and creepy being there without her oxygen on. I guess I just have to get used to it, used to her not being here. Which pretty much sucks because I still can't believe she's gone.

I really wish that whatever this is that's going on with me will just GO AWAY! I'm nauseous. I'm tired sitting up but as soon as I get in that damn bed it's like I'm wide awake. I really hate it and I wish it would stop because it's really messing up my sleeping schedule and I don't go to bed until like 6 am! I have class at 9:30!! I'm going to be seriously crying by the time I get done my day at 3pm. Why now? I have finals coming up in a week and a half!! I'm seriously going to cry.
